What size diamonds make sense in a three stone ring?
Many jewellers opt for side stones that are either half or a third the size of the centre stone. It is not uncommon for designers to use the golden ratio when selecting the proportions for three stone rings. Using this method, the centre stone should be 1.6 times the measurement of the side stones.
What do three stone rings mean?
Traditionally, three stone engagement rings represent the past, present and future of the relationship. Sometimes it’s also used to represent key family members through birthstones (toi et moi rings are often the birthstones of the people in the relationship). In Christian culture, it is commonly believed that the three stones represent the holy trinity.
