Yes, Australian sapphires are valuable, like all sapphires; they’re one of the four precious stones. Australian and Ceylon sapphires typically cost a fraction of what a diamond of a similar carat weight would.
What colour is an Australian sapphire?
Australian sapphires are most commonly a dark blue or even black colour due to an often higher iron content than other sapphire regions. You can find lighter blues, greens and parti (multi-coloured) sapphires in Australia as well.
Are Australian sapphires heated?
Most sapphires, regardless of where they were mined, are heat-treated. If a sapphire is heat treated, a reputable jeweller will tell you as much during the buying and design process.
