The day you receive an engagement ring is often the first day your hand will be adorned with a stunning diamond ring. Many women then adopt a simple routine, they keep their everyday jewellery on wearing it on around the clock. But should they?
Some women feel a sense of security when wearing their ring at all times, concerned that if they take their engagement ring off, they will risk misplacing it.
This may well be a valid concern but it is also important to consider that sometimes in order to look after and care for your ring it is important to remove it. A splash of water is ok but when you combine it with harsh chemicals or exfoliants, you may have a problem!
Should you wear your ring whilst showering?
As easy it is to roll out of bed and into the shower still half asleep whilst giving this very little thought at all. The simple answer is no. There are two reasons why we do not recommend wearing your ring in the shower. Firstly, it is a very easy place to lose your ring. When showering and all lathered up you risk your ring becoming loose and slipping off easily. This could happen in a matter of seconds and if you are not careful your ring could end up down the drain. Secondly, the combination of soaps, conditioners and exfoliants can ultimately lead to dulling your engagement ring with some products creating tiny unwanted scratches.
Should you wear your ring whilst cleaning?
The verdict on this question is a big, simple No! When we clean, we usually use harsh chemicals and abrasives. These are a disaster for your engagement ring. Some chemicals can etch the surface or alter the colour of your ring. Even if you don’t use chemicals when cleaning, you are still putting your ring at an increased risk of being knocked and bumped on many hard surfaces.
